Rapid Changes in our mood can be very confusing. Has anyone ever commented on this to you or found it hard to keep up with you?

When someone is experiencing bipolar disorder, they experience extreme fluctuations in mood, energy, and ability to function. During the highs you can feel "high” and invincible which can lead to reckless behaviour. During the 'lows’ you can feel sad, hopeless and exhausted.

The DSM 5 categorises three types of Bipolar disorder:

  • Bipolar I disorder
  • Bipolar II disorder
  • Cyclothymic disorder

Our Bipolar Screener will identify the type of bipolar disorder you may have, provide you with a diagnosis and make recommendations for future support.

What is included in the Bipolar Screener?

The Bipolar Screener includes a 1-hour online consultation with one of our experienced psychologists with specific experience of bipolar disorders. The psychologists who conduct this screening are clinical and endorsed and general psychologists with a broad knowledge of and experience with depressive disorders.

The Bipolar Screener Includes:

  • A 1-hour online consultation
  • Two screening tests
  • Recommendations for further testing or support needs

    How does it work?

Prior to the session you will be emailed two screening tests to fill out online, which will automatically be sent back to us. Your psychologist will review the tests prior to your session.

    During your session they will:

    • Give you feedback on your test results
    • Take a background history
    • Make recommendations for future treatment such as further testing if required or suggest other support needs

Once you have purchased the Bipolar Screener, reception will contact you to arrange an appointment time. Prior to your consultation, you will be sent some forms to fill in as well as two online screening tests.

If you have any questions of concerns about these forms, you can speak to the Reception team on 1300 161 639 or email us on assessments@psychologymelbourne.com.au.
