To assess whether a person may need an IQ Assessment
The Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a cognitive and intellectual test that involves gathering information on an individual's performance on a standardised intelligence test, the WAIS-IV. The WAIS-IV is a widely recognised test for adults and older adolescents designed to measure intelligence of individuals aged 16–90 years. It provides an estimate of general intellectual functioning, known as the IQ score.
The goal of an IQ assessment is to provide a comprehensive profile of an individual's intellectual functioning, thinking and reasoning skills, and cognitive strengths, as well as identifying any challenges. This information is used to assist in developing effective learning strategies and recommendations for future management.
The IQ Assessment may be used for any of the following purposes:
- Understanding your intellectual potential
- Academic opportunities and support
- Identifying an intellectual or learning disability
- Funding and support services
Our Process
Once you have purchased the assessment, you will be emailed an online intake form to fill in before your first session. This will highlight your personal information and reason for seeking assessment.
At the first consultation, your psychologist will take a personal history and background and ask about your current circumstances. Further information from close family members may be required along with medical information from your GP or medical clinic. During the first session the WAIS will also be administered, this session may last up to 90 minutes.
At the second consultation, your psychologist will explain the results of your assessment in detail. As well as recommendations on future support.
At the conclusion of the cognitive and intellectual assessment, a written report will detail your results, your IQ score, and future processes.
The Adult IQ Assessment includes:
- 1 x 90-minute consultation (administration of assessment) and 1x 60-minute consultation (feedback session)
- Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) administration
- WAIS Scoring and Comprehensive Interpretation Report
Please note: The 90-minute consultation in which the WAIS is administered must be held face-to-face at our Melbourne CBD location, 2/50 Queen St Melbourne.

Your report will have a section on Recommendations at the end. These will cover various pathways and future support guidance depending on the results of your assessment.
